Blues #1: Memphis Blues, Cyndi Lauper

I have been surprised to find a new album, Memphis Blues, by Cyndi Lauper.  I remember her more for Girls Just Want to Have Fun and Time After Time.  Looking back I realized that Cyndi Lauper got her start belting Janis Joplin Blues.  What goes around comes around.

On this album she does a wonderful rendition of Crossroads written by Robert Johnson, the legendary blues player from Mississippi, and made famous by Eric Clapton.  Not to be outdone she is joined on this song and others on the album by Jonny Lang.

Next I may have to check out what Jonny Lang is doing these days.

Here  is a look at the album cover for Lauper’s Memphis Blues.
